On Monday the class was briefed to create a personal presentation to portray who you are and how it influences your approach to design. The task was only 24hours long and was very broad, its deliverables were not design as such, anything from a poem to a jog around the classroom would have been acceptable. Given this information I decided to write and play a song live to the rest of my class.
The songs lyrics explained my decision to do this and let manifest my love for music and how designing for music is what I want to do when I leave.
Music is My Way
Verse one and two
Here I am with another song
Sit down, shut up, it won't take long
Graphic design for me, you see
has a destined path to music industries
I know Im far from being a rock star
living it large girls drugs cars
but thats not what my intentions are
I want to help others reach the stars
Chorus
Music is my way
I always, always want to play
and I don't think its wrong for me to say
the music industry is where I want to stay
Verse three
What Ill do along the way
Im not quite sure what I'm supposed to say
I only wrote this yesterday
I intend to have fun along the way
Chorus
Music is my way
I always, always want to play
and I don't think its wrong for me to say
the music industry is where Id like to stay
Chorus two
Music is my way
I always, always want to play
now I think its time for me to go
but wait you've got to hear Dec's solo
(Solo from Declan)
After everyone had presented, sung, jogged etc. we were told to explain
ourselves because the task was a collaboration between Declan and I
Amber actually said "you provide the platform on which Declan shines" I
thought about this and its true, I do provide the platform for Declan
sometimes and sometimes he provides a platform for me. Its this front
seat back seat structure which makes our collaboration work so well. We
were then told to summarise, in twelve words, what our outcome was. My
twelve words were:
James shines whilst Declan supports him
Declan shines whilst James supports him
