Networking is important for many reasons and today at career track tuesdays we learnt why. Firstly to reach beyond our own sectors in working life is a good habit to have as it opens doors to new relationships and opportunities. Not only that but the mutual benefit achieved can only have positive impacts on our careers.
The topics of the presentation were all relevant and the parts about body language were very interesting We learnt that over half of an impression is made through body language rather than verbally.
We found some great places to find networking events and also how to set up our own if we wanted to host a networking event.
The last part of the night was the most beneficial as we all took part in a 'mock' networking event where we gave each other pieces of paper with our names on instead of business cards. Here we practiced all the introduction and conversational techniques.
